Fred Stant is a 1967 graduate of the University of Virginia and a 1970 graduate of the Law School. Mr. Stant was a founding principal of the Clark & Stant law firm, which merged with Williams Mullen in 1999. He retired from the firm and the private practice of law in 2012.
In May 2011, Mr. Stant was appointed to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Commission as its representative from the City of Virginia Beach and, in January 2014, was elected Chairman of the Commission. In September 2021, he was appointed to the Commonwealth Transportation Board and appointed as its representative to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Commission. He continues to serve as Chairman of the Commission. Previously, Mr. Stant was a member of the Scope Commission of the City of Norfolk and of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Marine Sciences Museum. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Military Aviation Museum. Mr. Stant is a life-long resident of Tidewater.
