Laura A. Sellers, a clinically trained social worker from Stafford, Virginia where she has spent her career supporting national security, defense, law enforcement, and serving her community.
Elected in November 2013, Sellers represented the Garrisonville District on Stafford County’s Board Supervisors from 2014 to 2017. In addition to representing the Garrisonville District, Sellers represented Stafford County on several regional boards and commissions, including the George Washington Regional Commission (GWRC), the Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO), and the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC). These bodies play an essential role in shaping policy and long-term planning for transportation initiatives across the region.
Born at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sellers moved frequently during her childhood before settling in Stafford, Virginia, where she graduated from North Stafford High School. She earned her Bachelor of Art in Sociology from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, and went on to receive a Master’s of Social Work from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
