Linda Hutson Green, Vice President of Economic Development at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) and the Executive Director for the Southern Virginia Regional Alliance (SVRA) brings to the positions a wealth of federal, state and local experience from the public and private sectors. Green leverages the hosting resources of IALR to assist a dynamic group of local economic developers in marketing the region. Over the past six years, they facilitated the creation of 28 new industries and 31 expansions, generating over 5,300 new jobs and $1.5 billion in capital investment in Southern Virginia.
Green’s diverse background includes roles as District Director for U.S. Congressman Robert Hurt; Director for Manufacturing, Federal Funding and Entrepreneurship for the Center for Innovative Technology (Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation); Executive Director for the Virginia Research and Technology Advisory Commission; President of the Dan River Business Development Center; and Quality Engineer for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
Green was appointed by Governor Glenn Youngkin to the Commonwealth Transportation Board in 2023, serves as the President of the Virginia Economic Developers Association, and serves on the board of Averett University. A Certified Quality Engineer, Linda holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Duke University and is a graduate of Averett University and Danville Community College.
Recognized in 2023 by Virginia Business with Virginia’s Women Business Leaders; Green has also been recognized by Senators John Warner and Chuck Rob for Contributions to the Virginia Senate Productivity Award; for US Congressional Best Practices for Viet Nam Veteran Recognition with Congressman Robert Hurt; and a personal victory - set records for fund-raising in 2014 for Duke Cancer Center. While these are high points of many assignments, Green takes great pride in continuing education and civic involvement.
